Kids 5-Piece Size Guide

For the best fit, compare your child's height, chest, waist, and inseam with the size chart for this specific set.

1 Height

Have your child stand straight without shoes and measure from the floor to the top of the head. Height is an important overall sizing check because children of the same age can have very different proportions.

Don't choose by age alone: The number printed on a kids size is only a size label. Your child's actual measurements are more important.

2 Chest

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape level around the body and comfortably snug. Chest is one of the most important measurements because it primarily determines the fit of the jacket and generally the vest.

3 Waist

Measure around the waist where the pants will naturally sit. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Waist is the primary measurement for determining how the pants will fit.

Built-in adjustment helps: Smaller kids sizes generally use an elastic waistband, while larger sizes typically feature an expandable waist. This provides some flexibility when fine-tuning the pant fit.

4 Inseam

Measure from the crotch down the inside of the leg to the desired finished pant length. Compare this measurement with the inseam listed in the size chart for the set.

Pant length matters: These kids pants have a finished inseam. Make sure the size you select provides enough length so the pants do not end up too short.

How the 5 Pieces Work Together:

Jacket: Chest and overall height are key.

Pants: Waist and inseam are key.

Vest: The vest generally follows the jacket sizing.

Shirt: The shirt is sized as part of the complete set.

Neckwear: The included bow tie or necktie is adjustable.

Between Sizes? Compare all four key measurements rather than relying on the child's age or usual clothing size alone. Because the pants have some waist adjustment, jacket fit and pant length are especially important. Make sure the selected size provides enough room through the chest and enough inseam length for the pants.

What Is a Husky Size? Husky sizes provide additional room through areas such as the chest, waist, and seat while generally maintaining a similar overall height and length to the corresponding regular size. Select styles are available in 10H, 12H, 14H, 16H, 18H, and 20H. Husky can be a good option when a child's height points toward one size but additional room is needed through the body.

Available Kids Sizes: Most kids sets are offered in sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20. Some styles also include sizes 0 and 1, and select styles offer Husky sizing. Available sizes vary by style, so the options shown on this product page reflect what is available for this specific set.

Next: Choose the Best Set Size

Compare your child's height, chest, waist, and inseam with the Size Chart for this set. Choose the size that gives the best overall match while making sure the jacket has enough room and the pants provide sufficient finished length.

Kids sizing can vary somewhat by style and manufacturer, so always use the sizing information provided for the individual product.

Shoe Size Guide

Use the guidance below to choose the best size and width for this shoe.

1 Start With Your Usual Dress-Shoe Size

Your normal men's dress-shoe size is usually the best place to start. Fit can vary slightly by manufacturer and style, so use the size and width options shown for this specific shoe.

2 Choose Your Width

Most formal shoes are offered in either Regular Width or Wide Width. Regular is typically a D width, while Wide is typically an EE width. Width designations may vary slightly by manufacturer.

3 Half Sizes & Available Sizes

Many styles are available in half sizes, while some specialty shoes are offered in whole sizes only. Available size ranges also vary by style. The options shown on this product page reflect the sizes available for this specific shoe.

Between Sizes? If a half size is available, it can be helpful when your usual size feels slightly too snug or roomy. For styles offered only in whole sizes, consider your normal dress-shoe size, preferred fit, and the type of sock you plan to wear.

Consider Your Socks: Sock thickness can slightly affect how a shoe feels. A thin or sheer dress sock can provide a little more room, while a thicker cotton sock creates a snugger feel and can help fine-tune comfort.

Belt Size Guide

Use the guidance below to choose the best belt size for your waist.

1 Start With Your Pant Waist Size

Your normal trouser waist size is generally the best place to start. For example, if you normally wear a 34" waist, a 34" belt is usually a good starting point.

2 Use the Adjustment Range

Most belts include several holes so you can fine-tune the fit. As a general example, a 34" belt may fit approximately a 32"–36" waist. A 30" belt may fit approximately a 28"–32" waist, while a 32" belt may fit approximately a 30"–34" waist.

Belt ranges can vary slightly by manufacturer and style, so always use the size options and product-specific information shown on this page.

3 Measure a Belt That Already Fits

Lay a belt that fits you well flat on a table. Measure from the buckle pin to the hole you use most often. That measurement is a useful reference when choosing your new belt size.

Between Sizes? If your measurement falls between two labeled belt sizes, start with the size closest to your actual trouser waist or the measurement from a belt that already fits well. Because the adjustment ranges overlap, your preferred fit can also help determine the better choice.

Available Sizes: BLACKTIE currently carries belts from 30" through 58" in even sizes. Availability can vary by belt style, so the options shown on this product page reflect the sizes available for this specific belt.

Ready to Choose Your Size?

FAQs

What is a fabric swatch?

A fabric swatch is a small sample of the actual material and color used for a suit, tuxedo, vest, tie, or other formalwear item. It allows you to see and feel the fabric in person before making a final purchase decision.

Will the swatch color look exactly the same as it does on my screen?

Screen settings, lighting, and device displays can all affect how colors appear online. Ordering a physical fabric swatch is the best way to evaluate the true color and texture before coordinating your formalwear.

Can I use swatches to coordinate wedding colors?

Yes. Fabric swatches are especially helpful for comparing suit and tuxedo colors with bridesmaid dresses, flowers, linens, invitations, and other wedding details. They can make it much easier to confirm that your colors work well together before placing larger orders.
