How to Measure for a Jacket

Use the videos and instructions below to take your key body measurements. For jacket sizing, we recommend measuring both your chest and stomach.

Chest

Wrap the tape measure around your chest, level with your nipples and under your armpits. Keep the tape measure level all the way around your body.

Stomach

Wrap the tape measure around your stomach in line with your belly button. Keep the tape measure level all the way around. This measurement helps make sure your jacket will button comfortably.

Use Both Measurements: Chest is usually the primary measurement for jacket sizing, but your stomach measurement is important too. If your midsection is proportionally larger, you may need additional room so the jacket buttons comfortably.

Once you've recorded your measurements, visit the product page for the jacket you're interested in and select Size Charts & Fit Details, then choose Size Chart. Compare your body measurements with the sizing information listed for that specific style.

How to Measure for Pants

Use the videos and instructions below to take your key body measurements. For pant sizing, we recommend measuring both your waist and hips / seat.

Waist

Your waist is located approximately four fingers below your belly button. Staying level at that point, wrap the tape measure all the way around your body. Pull the tape comfortably snug to approximate the fit of a pants waistband.

Don't be surprised: Your waist measurement may be larger than the pant size you normally wear. That's completely normal.

Hips / Seat

At the widest point of your seat, wrap the tape measure around your hips. Keep the tape measure level all the way around your body.

Use Both Measurements: Waist is usually the primary measurement for pant sizing, but your hips / seat measurement is important for making sure the pants fit comfortably through the seat.

How to Measure for a Shirt

Use the videos and instructions below to take the body measurements needed for dress shirt sizing. We recommend measuring your neck, arm length, and shoulders.

Neck

Measure around the base of your neck, just below the Adam's apple, following the natural curve of your neck.

Arm Length

With your arm relaxed, begin at the edge of your shoulder bone. Follow the tape measure down to your elbow and hold it there, then continue down just past your wrist bone.

Shoulder

Locate the bones at the top edge of each shoulder and measure from one to the other, following the natural curve of your back.

Determine Your Sleeve Length: Add your arm length to half of your shoulder measurement.

Example: A 25" arm length + 9" (half of an 18" shoulder measurement) = 34" sleeve length.

Need a Longer Vest? If you're taller or have a longer torso, consider a Long version where available. Long sizes provide additional body length while keeping the same general chest and waist sizing. As a general guideline, customers around 6'1" and taller may prefer the extra length.
